Since 2013 OKeeffe Media has represented 20 Indigenous Radio & Television stations covering Perth Metro and Regional WA markets; including National Indigenous Community Television (ICTV) and National Radio Program, The Mary G Show.

2021 Census shows growing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population:

  • 812,728 people reported being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) origin – up from 649,200 in 2016.
  • The ATSI population is younger than Australia’s overall population, with a median age 24 years, up from 23 years in 2016. This is substantially younger than the median age for non-Indigenous Australians, who had a median age of 38 years in 2016.

ICTV (Indigenous Community Television) National

ICTV delivers cultural and community video content to remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities around Australia, and beyond.  Content is created for and by remote communities to show: cultural stories, song, dance, language, children’s programs, sports and essential information.

 

 

Over 50% of programming is in Indigenous Australian languages.

ICTV is broadcast 18 hours/day every day of the year.

ICTV Audience 91% of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in remote areas with access to a television watch ICTV regularly. 

Over 410,000 households nationally, including 104,603 households in WA have registered VAST Smart Cards, which is essentially the number of households that can access ICTV via satellite.  These figures represent an increase of 7.09% in WA and 5.72% nationally, in the last 12 months.

Mary is a naïve, witty and lusty Aboriginal woman from the Kimberley. She has no allegiance with any one language group however she is connected to most of them. The Mary G Show, both on TV and Radio, keeps people in touch with each other, from community to community, across the nation.

Mary is a strong supporter of respect of youth and self-esteem, but also promoting respect for elders of all generations.

Mary is also an advocate for women and a strong supporter of Women’s rights and positive role they play in society. Culture and understanding of Indigenous issues is a high priority for Mary G and this is the message of all her work, in TV, Radio or live on stage. 

Mary G hosts her own radio show between 7:00pm -10:00pm (WST) on Wednesday nights.
